Chapter 2 Exercises_ Bergen
Question 5 Two Seperate Parts of the Brain

What are the arguments and evidence that have been put forth to support the notion that there are two seperate parts of the brain?

Based on research there are several theories to support that there are two seperate parts of the brain. For examle; it is believed that the brain is divided into two seperate hemispheres which are connected by the corpus callosum.  Another example, is that the brain hemispheres exhibit contralateral control of functions. This is the belief that the left side controls the right side and the left side controls the right side. The brain is also asymmetric; the two hemispheres are lateralized for different functions. The last example is by Gall, he proposed the theory of localization, or the idea that different abilities are localized in specific parts of the brain. The brain is a complex organ that has two hemipsheres that are controlled by different sides of the body.
