Chapter 10 Question 11_D'Arpa

Match some Cockney rhyming slang expressions to the items they refer to:
  1. Drip dry -cry
  2. In the mood- food
  3. Insects and ants- pants
  4. Orchestra stalls- balls (testicles)
  5. Oxford scholar- dollar
  6. Strike me dead- bread
  7. Ship in full sail- ale
Now construct your own version of Cockney rhyming slang for the following words:
  1. Chair- Bears beware (Chairs should be sturdy so that people like Goldilocks will not break them)
  2. House- Government louse (Government officials that suck money from our paychecks to collect taxes)
  3. Coat-Cashmere goat (Some coats are cashmere which we get from goats)
  4. Eggs- Hen's keg (Kegs hold things just as eggs contain young fowl)
  5. Pencil- Hansel's stencil (Hansel's tool for drawing stencils)
This was not in the book but I thought of one additional one:
  • spouse (female)- lady of the house
  • spouse (male)- master of the house
